The prime objective of the Optimists is to change the lives of deprived children and their families.

To deliver to this objective the child sponsorship programme was developed. The sponsorship program delivers food, clothing, tuition, books and medical care to children from the first to the tenth grade.

An unpaid team of volunteer mentors distribute cash and materials directly to children along with supervised health checks and regular contacts with their schools. Individual needs and progress are all monitored by the local teams.

Donors sponsor a child in Bangladesh and the sponsors annual donation is all to used to support a child through ten years of education.

Just £125-00 supports a child for a whole year

How does a donor know that his donation is being properly used?

  • The donor is provided with full details of the sponsored child/children
  • Periodic progress report on the sponsored child/children is provided to the sponsors
  • The sponsor may establish direct contact with their sponsored child/children and monitor their progress
  • Annual audited report is made available for scrutiny

Absolutely none of your donated amount goes to carry the management costs? The Optimists is unique from the stand point that 100% of your donated money goes to the sponsored children.

The entire organisation is totally managed and run by volunteers with no fiscal remuneration. The Optimists has been in operation since the year 2000.
